A 16 year old boy took his 12-string guitar onto a hometown stage for a performance that led him to multiple recording sessions and two national tours in the years that followed, until the pandemic hit the music industry.

MATTHEW BENTLEY's musical growth has been as organic as the music he writes and performs.  Everywhere the talented Victorian goes, from WA to QLD, his infectiously fun coastal music and his lovable personality endear him to a growing legion of fans.  And with the music scene returning, Matthew is ready to do more of the same.

Crowds at shows sing along to Matthew's successful single WAKE UP, a song typical of his blend of folk-roots-surf music.  His down-to-earth personality and style work equally as well on stage, supporting the likes of Lloyd Spiegel and Keegan Joyce, as when he is busking or doing a house show.

Mathew's musical gifts were recognised early when he gained second place out of more than 200 acts in the 2017 FReeZA Push Start competition at the St Kilda Festival. He came away from that with the APRA Songwriter Award.

The WAKE UP single, video, EP and tour came in 2018, along with performances at the Bruthen Blues Festival and the 'Live at Spectrum' TV show.  More touring across five states followed in 2019 on the back of his single A SONG FOR YOU.  Matthew was scheduled to perform again at Bruthen in 2020, before bushfires caused the festival's cancellation.

While Matthew couldn't publicly perform during the coronavirus pandemic, he was still busy writing and recording.  2021 saw the release of a new single WHEN YOU GO and he has more to record in 2022.

Whether it's the Workers Club in Melbourne, Solbar on the Sunshine Coast or the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club (Adelaide), Matthew is a singer/songwriter/guitarist of the people.  Watch his Instagram and Facebook pages for show details or find his music at places like Spotify and iTunes.
